About My Practice

As a pediatrician, I have the privilege of interacting with kids of all ages and developmental stages.

From a newborn experiencing everything for the first time to an adolescent preparing to move away from home, working with kids is stimulating, energizing, and of course, fun! Because I believe that childhood is the best time to start healthy habits, preventive medicine and health education are key components of my practice. I believe that preventive care in childhood can set the foundation for a fulfilling life.

My goal is to make medical care understandable for my patients and their families. This means communicating in a variety of ways, such as through both written and verbal instructions, with close attention to follow-up. I strive to create an open environment in which families feel comfortable approaching me with their questions and concerns. Finally, I try to always respect differing belief systems and cultures, while helping families to make decisions based on up-to-date medical information.

On a Personal Note

I grew up in San Luis Obispo, where my great-great grandparents settled in the late 1800’s. Like many of you, I grew up exploring the abundant outdoors of the Central Coast. When it was time to leave home, I was drawn to another small college town, Davis. I met my husband (and next-door neighbor) on my first day there. After graduating, I took a year to work and travel before starting medical school at UCLA. We continued our move south for my pediatrics residency at UC San Diego, where we welcomed our first child into our lives. My husband and I both grew up surrounded by close family—and now with four children of our own, we feel so fortunate that they have the same opportunity. My experiences as a parent have shaped my knowledge as a pediatrician, and I never hesitate to offer practical, hands-on advice to my patients. In returning to my hometown, I am proud to continue the tradition of offering high quality medical care to the children of San Luis Obispo County.
